If you have solid experience leading a quality-focused team in the automotive industry, this is the opportunity for you! Our client in the Cambridge area is seeking a QUALITY MANAGER who thrives on challenge and improving processes while leading a team of quality professionals.  The successful candidate will demonstrate a true passion for quality, excellent customer service and the ability to motivate internal teams.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

  • As the primary customer liaison for product quality, establish and maintain effective relationships with customers and resolve all matters pertaining to quality
  • Ensure compliance to ISO and internal quality systems
  • Assume a leadership role through coaching, mentoring and training of the quality department
  • Actively participate in product quality planning process for purposes of ensuring quality requirements are completed for new program launches
  • Lead team to develop methodologies that promote continual improvement activities
  • Obtain and review customer scorecards, analyze performance, and work with a cross-functional team to improve deficient areas
  • Audit quality system performance to ensure quality system framework is effectively implemented and standardized across facilities
  • Standardize visual management and reporting systems on quality measurables
  • Address issues driving high cost of quality and work on continual sustainable reduction of such costs
  • Apply statistical tools for data collection and analysis to evaluate processes and process changes
  • Oversee corrective/preventative activities to ensure systematic problem solving methods are used
  • Audit corrective actions to verify completeness and effectiveness of implemented countermeasures
  • Communicate to management team significant issues/findings identified during quality assurance activities and recommend proposed solutions

QUALIFICATIONS (Education and Skills required): 

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering (mechanical/manufacturing)
  • ASQ certification coupled with Lead Auditor experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a quality management position within automotive manufacturing sector
  • Thorough knowledge of IATF automotive quality management standards
  • Practical knowledge of GD&T, metrology, lean manufacturing principles as well as problem solving tools such as Six Sigma, Shainin (RedX)
  • Experienced with measurement techniques and instruments
  • Prior experience interpreting CMM reports (PCDMIS)
  • Applied knowledge of quality principles and tools such as APQP, FMEA, control plans, corrective actions, statistical data collection and trend analysis
  • Advanced skillset in MS Powerpoint and demonstrated ability to deliver presentations professionally
  • Ability to travel internationally (up to 5%)
