Production Supervisor – Food Production
Overview
Our client, a Food Producer in Elmira, is looking for a Production Supervisor to join their team in a full-time permanent role!

As the chosen candidate, will be the recipient of a salary between $50-60K as well as a solid benefit plan and RSP matching after one year!
Required Skills:
- As the ideal Production supervisor, you will have gained previous experience in Production or QA roles in a food production environment.
- Ideal candidates will be able to operate efficiently in a complex environment.
- Comfortable with this hands-on position and spending most of your time supporting several production lines.
- Experience working with government and food industry quality guidelines is a MUST.
- Understanding of food safety programs such as HACCP, BRC and GMP’s for food production.
- Good management skills are also a definite asset.
- Familiarity with equipment set up and minor equipment troubleshooting an asset
- Experience with collective agreements is a definite asset.
- Must be well versed in the Collective Agreement and be able to deal effectively with the employees and the union to resolve any issues.
Position Duties:
- Execution of the production schedule including confirming all materials are available, confirming all equipment is functioning, ensuring lines properly staffed and troubleshooting as required.
- Based on the production schedule the Production supervisor plans and positions the appropriate labour.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with employee absences, ingredient shortages from vendors and equipment breakdowns, while still achieving weekly output requirements.
- Interact with staff, within the context of the Collective Agreement, on everything from hours of work, seniority, vacation, sick days etc
- Work within the guidelines of all government and industry established quality programs as required by our customers.
- Working with the Technical group, the Supervisor is responsible to ensure that the plant is following the HACCP and BRC programs including GMPs, employee training, and sanitation.
- The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the company is adhering to government regulations regarding Health and Safety.
- Staying on top of Health and safety compliance (WSIB) and ensuring staff work in a safe manner at all times.
- Well versed in union collective agreement in order to deal with any questions, concerns or grievances.
