Processing Technician – Industrial Bakery – Elmira
Overview
On behalf of our client in ELMIRA, Grand River Personnel is looking for great candidates to work in the processing area assisting with the creation of jams, jellies and other baked good fillings. This role is for a current vacancy and is a temporary-to-permanent role for the right candidate.
Shift: Monday-Friday: 7:00am – 3:30pm
Pay Rate : $23.33/hr + 4% Vacation pay weekly on each cheque
Responsibilities:
- The operator is responsible for cooking and preparing various recipes using steam kettles as required.
- Monitor and control process for quality and inconsistencies
- Monitor machine performance, make necessary changes, prompt reporting of any malfunctions or production concerns
- Collect samples from machines while in processing to inspect for quality
- Remove materials from cooking department and move to proper areas
- Able to maintain documentation for all stages of processing in clear and legible manner
- Knowledge of safe food handling practices (GMP’s)
Requirements:
- Must have experience operating different types of industrial cooking machinery.
- NOTE: Must be flexible and able to work longer hours (can not leave until recipe is finished cooking) as well as potential overtime and Saturdays as needed.
- 2 year experience minimum as a Machine Operator; 2 year experience minimum in Food Manufacturing
- Able to perform all tasks within the department including lifting up to 25kg, walking, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs.
- Basic computer skills – data entry and documentation.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of GMP’s, SOP’s, HACCP/BRC food safety and Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision; to receive and provide direction and communication where required.
- No jewelry, fake nails, or non-removable piercings allowed
- Comfortable working in a warm environment
- Attention to detail, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (English)
- Good attendance is an absolute must as the entire production is heavily dependent on this role.
- Must have your own waterproof CSA safety footwear (wet environment)
- Must have your own reliable transportation
