Press Set-up Technician (Injection Moulding)- Waterloo
Overview
On behalf of our client, Grand River Personnel is recruiting experienced and mechanically inclined Press Set-Up Technicians for a growing manufacturing operation in Waterloo, ON.
If you have hands-on experience with injection moulding equipment, tooling changeovers, blueprint reading, and precision measuring instruments, this is an excellent opportunity to join a stable company that values technical skill, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement.
Shift: Afternoons – 11:00am to 9:00pm, Monday to Thursday (training on Day shift to start off)
Pay Rate: $22.70/hr + 4% vacation pay added to each cheque weekly!

Responsibilities:
• Set up and operate injection moulding machines for production runs
• Safely remove, clean, tag, and store molds and tooling during changeovers
• Apply protective coatings to molds and clear water lines as required
• Prepare and install molds, tooling, and auxiliary equipment for upcoming production schedules
• Produce first-off parts and coordinate Quality Control approvals prior to production start-up
• Monitor production flow and communicate tooling and material requirements with material handlers
• Use gauges, Vernier calipers, and other measuring equipment to verify product specifications
• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and production documentation
• Operate machinery and overhead cranes safely and efficiently
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
• Minimum 2–3 years of Set-Up Technician, Mold Technician, or related plastics manufacturing experience
• Hands-on experience with injection moulding machinery and tooling changeovers
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Proficiency using Vernier calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools
• Overhead crane experience/training required
• Forklift certification considered a strong asset
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced production environment
• Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
• CSA-approved safety footwear required
• Positive attitude and commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement
