Payroll Specialist
Overview
Our client in Cambridge is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join their team in a full-time permanent position!

As the Payroll Specialist, you will be compensated $55-$60K, commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package!
Required Skills:
- 3-5 years of prior experience processing hourly payroll in a mid-to-large size organization
- University or College education in Accounting or Payroll is required
- PCP – Payroll Certification is an ASSET
- Experience with payroll in a manufacturing environment is an ASSET
- Familiarity with payroll and HR software systems
- High level of accuracy in data entry and reporting
- Professional discretion with sensitive employee information
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise.
- Strong communication skills are essential for this role.
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee full-cycle payroll processing for hourly staff, ensuring timely and accurate calculation of wages, including retroactive pay, overtime premiums, and other adjustments in accordance with policy and regulations.
- Coordinate with managers to confirm payroll approvals, ensuring all entries are reviewed and signed off prior to processing deadlines.
- Conduct regular internal audits and generate detailed payroll reports to identify trends, detect anomalies, and support compliance and continuous improvement.
- Manage employee onboarding and offboarding in HR systems, entering new hire data, updating records, and generating Records of Employment (ROEs) for terminations.
- Track and apply vacation, leave of absence, and other non-standard pay codes accurately within internal systems to ensure consistent payroll outcomes.
- Maintain current benefit records, verify employee eligibility, and support seamless administration of health, dental, and related benefit programs.
- Draft employment letters, pay-related communications, and other supporting documents while maintaining a professional and consistent format.
- Organize and archive payroll-related documentation in line with retention guidelines, ensuring accessibility and regulatory compliance.
- Protect sensitive employee and payroll data, assist with administrative projects, and uphold all company policies, safety protocols, and confidentiality standards.
- Must be able to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.
