Industrial Maintenance Mechanic – Full-time Days
Overview
Our client, with a brand new food production plant in Elmira, is looking for a Hands-on Maintenance Mechanic or Licensed Millwright to join their team in a full-time permanent role!
Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role will primarily work on days but candidates need to be flexible to work on afternoons when production equipment needs attention.
This Mechanic role is very hands-on in this semi-automated plant, so you will need to enjoy and be comfortable getting involved and using your hands!
Hourly rate for this role will be based on experience you bring to the table; general range between $28.00-35.00/hour, with some flexibility for the right person.
Job Requirements:
- Mechanical background using tools, in addition to possessing relevant training is a MUST. Millwright license will be an ASSET.
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience preferably in a food processing environment.
- Good command and understanding of the English language.
- Need to be able to perform mathematical calculations, read and understand equipment manuals, diagrams and guide.
- Responsible for prestart inspection, installing, adjusting, measuring and replacing equipment while following Food Safety, Health and Safety rules and regulations.
- Heavy lifting and dexterity are required along with Forklift and walkie certification and experience,
- Previous millwright experience would be an asset as you will work as part of a team but would routinely perform work independently
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and safety amongst yourself and others while performing your duties.
- Maintain a clean and environmentally safe work area while participating in the PM program on all equipment for continuous improvement on all machines.
- Inspecting, adjusting, maintaining, identifying, repairing, replacing defective parts and reporting necessary maintenance concerns to reduce and eliminate, unplanned down time.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of GMP’s, SOP’s, HACCP/BRC food safety and Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision; to receive and provide direction and communication where required.
- Must be willing to attend and participate in all necessary training, courses and upgrading of skills as relevant to the job requirements.
- Must accurately record documentation that is legible when viewed, place orders with suppliers for parts when required and approved by Plant Manager and address in a timely manner.
- NOTE: Must be flexible and able to work hours on day shift as well as afternoons as needed.
- Must be available to work overtime and Saturdays when required and based on business needs be available for call back.
