Overview
Grand River Personnel is seeking a dependable and proactive individual to join the sanitation team in an industrial bakery environment in Elmira, ON.
This role is best suited for someone who takes pride in maintaining high cleanliness standards, works well independently, and is able to anticipate issues before they arise in a fast-paced production setting.
Pay Range: $22-$24/hr + 4% vacation pay added to each cheque weekly
Shift: Nights: 8pm – 5am, end times may vary
Responsibilities:

Clean and sanitize production equipment, machinery, and processing areas within an industrial bakery

Maintain overall facility cleanliness, including floors, lunchrooms, and washrooms

Collect, sort, and dispose of waste, recyclables, and production scrap materials

Replenish paper products and sanitation supplies as required

Operate a counterbalance forklift to safely move materials and equipment when needed

Follow established cleaning procedures, 5S standards, and company policies
-
Take initiative to identify and address potential issues before they become problems

Work independently while also supporting overall plant operations

Complete additional duties as assigned to support daily production needs
Qualifications:
-
Valid propane forklift licence (required) – “in-house” is not considered an equivalent

Experience in sanitation, industrial cleaning, or food manufacturing environments

Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision
-
Demonstrated initiative and ability to anticipate operational needs

Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals and performing physically demanding tasks

Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety and cleanliness
-
Working knowledge of GMP, SOPs, HACCP/BRC standards, and Health & Safety procedures
Requirements:

CSA-approved waterproof safety footwear
-
Ability to work night shifts and overtime as required

Use of all required PPE and adherence to safe work practices

Ability to perform physical duties including lifting up to 25 kg, walking, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs
