Cost Accounting Manager
Overview
Our client in Kitchener, is looking for a Cost Accounting Manager to join their team in a Full-time permanent role!
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will manage the Product Costing and Analysis process, along with managing two costing assistants. You bring with you 3-5 years of costing experience in manufacturing along with 1-2 years of supervising staff!

Job Requirements:
- A Degree in Economics, Accounting or other related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
- 1-2 years of Supervisory experience
- Excellent problem-solving skills and able to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment.
- Driven by deadlines and extremely detail-oriented and organized.
- Comfortable communicating with all levels of staff including coaching and training of staff reports as well as communicating findings to the management team.
- Embrace change and look for continuous improvements in daily processes.
- Advanced experience in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word and experience with ERP systems.
Job Duties:
- Review monthly Cost Variance, analyze standard costs that are above standard price and determine root cause for the increase.
- Assist in calculating Prime Cost for new and existing products.
- Provide coaching and direction to cost accounting staff on needs of the department and of management.
- Analyze and understand the difference between Gross Margin and Contribution dollars per shift and the impact of same on customer price points.
- Prepare monthly Gross Margin analysis and investigate margins that are below acceptable predetermined company margins.
- Lead monthly Inventory meetings and push clearance of products that are at risk of expiring.
- Manage monthly sales order reviews and identify RC for sales not being fulfilled.
- Review monthly “additional freight charge” analysis and determine RC for extra freight expenses incurred.
- Monthly Analysis of Freight-In Charges vs. Material cost
- Analyze Yearly Target Costs compared to Current Standard costs and seek out reduced pricing on materials.
- Complete Costing sheets required by customers
- Create reports based on ERP data
- Perform other assigned duties.
