Experienced Industrial Sanitation Worker – Elmira, ON (nights)
Overview
On behalf of our client, Grand River Personnel is recruiting reliable and self-driven candidates for an open vacancy as a Sanitation Associate in an industrial bakery environment in Elmira, ON.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals who take ownership of their work, maintain high standards of cleanliness, and can proactively identify and resolve issues in a fast-paced production setting.
Pay Rate: $22.00 – $24.00/hr + 4% vacation pay added to each cheque weekly
Shift: Nights: 8:00pm – 5:00am (end time may vary based on production needs)

Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough cleaning and sanitizing of production equipment, machinery, and processing areas while maintaining overall facility cleanliness including common areas
- Handle waste removal, recycling, and scrap materials efficiently while restocking sanitation and paper supplies as needed
- Operate a propane counterbalance forklift to move materials and support sanitation tasks safely
- Follow established cleaning procedures, GMP standards, and company policies while identifying and addressing potential issues before they impact production
- Work independently with minimal supervision while supporting the broader team to ensure smooth plant operations and completion of daily tasks
Qualifications:
- Valid propane forklift licence (required) — in-house certification not accepted, with prior experience in sanitation, industrial cleaning, or food manufacturing environments
- Strong ability to work independently, take initiative, and anticipate operational needs in a fast-paced setting
- Knowledge of GMP, SOPs, HACCP/BRC standards, and general health & safety practices with a focus on maintaining a clean and compliant environment
- Physically capable of performing demanding tasks including lifting, bending, and extended periods of movement while handling cleaning chemicals safely
Requirements:
- CSA-approved waterproof safety footwear
- Ability to work consistent night shifts and overtime as required
- Must follow all PPE requirements and safe work practices at all times
- Physically able to lift up to 25 kg and perform repetitive movements including walking, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs
