Overview

Our client, a furniture manufacturer in Waterloo Region, is looking for a Lead Slipper Press Operator to join their team in a full-time permanent role!

As the lead press operator you will have experience with automated presses specifically a Slipper Presses that forms rubber or plastic furniture parts.

As the ideal candidate, you are mechanically inclined and you can set-up , run and trouble-shoot the press process!

You will earn an hourly rate of : $22.55/hour and work Day shift: Monday to Thursday:  7am-4:30, 7:00am -11:00am Fridays

Duties:

  • Starts machines, monitor their operations, and records operational data as required.
  • To set and run secondary presses within the standard times required for the product being produced.
  • To set up tools and dies.
  • Perform lock out and tag outs.
  • Ability to identify parts and use measuring tools (height gauges, micrometer and vernier).
  • To comply with all the procedures and workmanship standards relevant to the production of the product, including first and last off, and in-process quality checks.
  • Follows inspection process to comply with customer and company requirements and produces pieces within tolerance.
  • Maintains focus on productivity and maximizing uptime.
  • Address problems and make/implement solutions to improve efficiencies, process and product flow, safety, and quality.
  • Work with supervisors and lead hands on day-to-day issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skill Requirements:

  • Experience using an automated press is a MUST
  • Experience with a manual press is an Asset
  • Automated Press: Slipper Press C-Row E-Row F-Row G-Row
  • Manual Press: D-Row E-Row F-Row H-Row A-Row
  • Experience identifying parts and use measuring tools (height gauges, micrometer and vernier).
  • Ability to work on your own or as a team
  • Ability to stand at a press for long periods
  • Safety conscious and follows safety rules
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of recognizing defects and processes for correction in machinery.
  • Must be able to read blueprints
  • Good work ethic
  • Experience with Word, Excel
  • Overhead crane experience
