Overview

Our client in Kitchener is looking for an experienced accountant with a CPA designation to join their team on a mat leave contract!

As the Financial Analyst in this accounting department, you will supervise and administer the corporate cash management, debt, budgets and investment functions for the organization, including banking arrangements, investments, financial and regulatory reporting and analysis.

Excellent rate of pay for a skilled Certified Professional Accountant between 90-95K and flexible hybrid work arrangements!

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and delivery consolidated expense budgets and forecasts and capital expenditure planning related to project activities
  • Prepare and present monthly consolidated expense variance reporting to senior management
  • IFRS 17 financial reporting, Regulatory financial reporting assistance
  • External audit and annual financial statement support
  • Accounts payable disbursement reviews and approval
  • Bank account reconciliations and key suspense account reconciliations.
  • Oversight of Financial Services coordinator reconciliation and client processing activities
  • Quarterly and Annual HST returns and CRA account oversight
  • Journal entry inputs and approvals
  • Projects and process improvement delivery

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree, in accounting or finance
  • Must have a professional accounting designation (CPA) plus at least 5 years of experience
  • Some previous experience in the insurance sector and experience with IFRS-17
  • Knowledge of cash management, investing, debt, budgeting, and accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with policies, procedures, collective agreements, GAAP and related legislation
  • Analytical, problem solving, and continuous improvement skills to conduct analyses and make recommendations and decisions on cash management, investing, debt, and other financial issues;
  • Leadership skills to supervise, train, develop, motivate, and support staff.
  • Human relations and communication skills to share complex, politically sensitive information with stakeholders;
  • Ability to write clear, concise letters and reports to management, and external stakeholders regarding investment and debt legislation, financial updates, and budget information.
  • Computer skills with ability to use software such as Microsoft Office and MS Access, MS Power BI, MS Power Automate experience.
  • Must provide an acceptable police records check for bondability.
