Plant Maintenance Engineer
Overview
Our client employer in Waterloo Region is looking for a Plant Maintenance Engineer to join their team in a full-time permanent role!
As the Plant Engineer, you are a strong leader who will lead the maintenance team of of five, ensure that the work environment is safe for all and that the preventive maintenance program is upheld!
The qualified candidate will be the recipient of a solid compensation package including competitive salary between 105-115K, benefits package, RSP matching, EAP program, flexible work hours and continuous learning is encouraged!
Required Skills:
- Engineering Degree, preferably in Mechanical or Electrical
- Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in a manufacturing environment in maintenance, process, plant engineering or manufacturing functions.
- One (1) to three (3) years of managerial / supervisory experience.
- Previous experience supervising unionized teammates; working in a unionized environment.
- Must have demonstrated project/management skills coupled with good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be a strong planner and well organized,
- Able to manage conflicting priorities and manage contractors or technical staff.
- Excellent technical knowledge including applicable engineering principles and codes, safety and environmental requirements, and other related legislation.
- Understanding of IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 requirements and work procedures.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents and respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints.
- Good computer skills (spreadsheets, CAD, etc.)
Responsibilities:
- Plan, budget, approve, schedule and coordinate capital projects, installations, plant shutdowns, startups, and general plant and machine maintenance.
- Understand Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and develop and implement corrective actions to meet or exceed established targets.
- Drive and participate in lean manufacturing principles such as 5S, kaizens, value stream mapping, etc..
- Responsible for the supervision of all hourly (unionized) teammates in the department, including the coaching, training, discipline, and schedules.
- Responsible for ensuring a safe work environment for all teammates, including participation in H&S programs and training on safe operations, PPE’s and good housekeeping.
- Responsible for implementation and maintenance of any HS&E requirements, policies and all HS&E goals/objectives assigned.
- Responsible for departmental budget, including budget preparation and cost control.
- Maintain inventories of spare equipment/parts, equipment documentation for all lines and maintenance shop supplies.
- Purchasing of parts required for modifications and repairs.
- Implement and maintain PM program in co-ordination with scheduling and plant management.
