Our client, a well-established manufacturing company in the Waterloo area, is looking to add a SENIOR PAYROLL SPECIALIST to their team! This is an excellent full-time opportunity to join a busy, productive organization.

As the Senior Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible and accountable for processing of accurate payroll transactions on a weekly basis
  • Completing journal entry preparations on a weekly basis
  • Point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from team members
  • Managing company vacation program from form collection to vacation/banked hour payout
  • Processing and issuing related payroll documents, including records of employment, T4’s, letters of employment, and statutory/regulated reporting
  • Maintaining company Payroll records in compliance with Revenue Canada legal standards, including Payroll Register, Employee Health Tax (EHT) remittances, Source Deductions and Canada Savings Bonds (CSB) Loan Transactions
  • Administering Group Pension, Benefit and WSIB monthly remittances and annual reconciliations
  • Completing new employee set up, including Group Benefit enrollments
  • Responsible for third party insurance carrier, STD and other payroll deductions
  • Compiling and sending weekly labour report
  • Managing Company programs – Computer Financial Assistance, Safety Boots, annual tool reimbursement
  • Assisting with HR social functions as required

QUALIFICATIONS (education & Skills Required):

  • Post-secondary education in related field or equivalent business experience
  • Minimum of 5 years full cycle payroll experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment inclusive of year end balancing and remittances
  • Canadian Payroll Association (PCP) certification
  • Knowledge of ADP software payroll system (Pay Specialist) or similar required
  • Experienced with HRIS and Time & Attendance systems (Paktime an asset)
  • Practical knowledge of payroll standards and legislation including employment standards, EI, and WSIB
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skill set
  • Special attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills demonstrated by the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast paced environment
