Overview

Our client is a well-established food processing manufacturer located in Waterloo, ON and they are looking for an experienced SQF/HACCP COORDINATOR to join their Quality Team on a full-time, permanent basis.

POSITION DETAILS:

  • Salary start $50,000 – $55,000 (based on experience)
  • Permanent, Full-Time
  • Business hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
  • Waterloo, ON

POSITION OVERVIEW:

  • Implement food safety programs for the facility
  • Ensure adherence to required food safety laws, regulations, company policies and practices
  • If necessary, suspend operations when serious food safety risks are identified.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and validate the plant’s HACCP and SQF programs.

MAIN JOB DUTIES AND TASKS:

SQF & HACCP Program

  • Oversee development, implementation, review and maintenance of the HACCP Plan
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with Canadian Food Inspection Agency
  • Ensure integrity of HACCP and SQF Systems
  • Research and stay well-informed of changes to applicable regulations

Audits and Program Reviews

  • Perform annual internal audits and program reassessments
  • Monitor and verify food safety programs and facility practices
  • Provide technical documentation for testing of products and raw materials
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements
  • Primary liaison with inspectors, third party auditors, and customers
  • Ensure follow-through and completion of non-compliance and deviation investigations conducted by Quality Department
  • Ensure appropriate product holds and dispositions

Training & Communication

  • Communicate program requirements to relevant personnel
  • Training of personnel on HACCP/SQF programs
  • Provide food safety support and expertise to all facility departments
  • Provide support and guidance to Quality Team
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Proven leadership skills and team motivator
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, understanding of statistical process controls
  • Ability to work effectively as a team
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent writer of policy and procedure and other reports available for audit purposes
  • Excellent work ethic and attendance
  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • 3-5 years in the food industry ideally including technical, and food safety
  • Working knowledge of FSEP, HACCP, and SQF requirements
  • Quality systems development experience with vendor auditing
  • Proficient with MS Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • Thorough technical knowledge of quality & food safety is required

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of Vocational, Technical Specialty Certification, and/or License Program in a related field
  • University Degree or College Diploma in related discipline of Food Safety
  • Courses/training on HACCP principles to meat or poultry product procession would be an asset
