Our client in the Cambridge area is looking for an experienced GENERAL MANAGER to join their team in a permanent role!


  • Complete accountability for ongoing operations of the facilities in addition to strategic and tactical planning for manufacturing operations
  • Coordinating all manufacturing activities (sourcing, scheduling, production priorities, resource management, maintenance) to ensure optimal resource utilization (equipment, materials, processes)
  • Planning and implementing changes to machinery and equipment, production systems, and methods of work
  • Guarantee timely customer responses to quality concerns are upheld and represent customer sights as required
  • Developing and implementing plans to efficiently use materials, labour, and equipment to meet production targets
  • Monitoring and endorsing production, quality assurance, and purchasing requisition functions
  • Completing capacity studies, maintaining capital budget
  • Leading new program launches and processes required to support them
  • Participating in External/Internal Audits, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Continuous Improvement (CI)
  • Conducting monthly meetings with employees to review overall plant performance
  • Setting the standard of safety excellence throughout the facility
  • Providing leadership through empowerment, communication, problem solving, continuous improvement and challenging of the status quo to promote and ensure the development of these attributes across all departments
  • Ensuring that a progressive culture of shared authority, responsibility and accountability along with trust, honesty, and respect is developed
  • Establishing integrity throughout the facility in order for positive interaction with employees, addressing their concerns and providing feed back to all shifts
  • Key driver of operational improvements including quality, safety, cost reductions and service

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Skills Required)

  • Post-secondary education in Materials Management, Engineering, or manufacturing-related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years’ management experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive
  • Strong planning experience working within an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on KPIs
  • Ability to lead and engage team members to drive continuous improvement
  • Understanding of production planning and material movement, with a focus on lean manufacturing
  • Well developed time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple objectives with challenging timelines
  • High-energy, self-motivated and has a flexible and creative approach working in an environment dedicated to results and continuous improvement
