Overview

Our client, a well-established non-profit organization, is looking for a permanent part-time BOOKKEEPER to provide financial, accounting services and support to their Board of Management.

The ideal candidate will have experience in, and an understanding of, the non-profit sector.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will provide bookkeeping and accounting services that include:

  • Entering transactions into the accounting system
  • Assigning items and transactions to revenue and expense accounts
  • Bank statement reconciliation
  • Monthly Financial Statements to be reviewed regularly with the Executive Director
  • Year-end Reports to be reviewed with the Executive Director
  • Accounts Receivable and Payable, including preparing cheques for signatures
  • Payroll – manage and prepare payroll cheques and records
  • Provide financial details and support for Annual Audits
  • Ensure accurate filing systems are in place by all parties
  • Other financial duties, as deemed necessary

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven bookkeeping experience
  • Solid understanding of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable principles
  • Ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Excellent data entry
  • Proven experience with spreadsheets
  • Proficient in English, both written and verbal
  • Proficient with MS Office, especially Excel
  • High level of customer service
  • Previous experience working with non-profits and/or charities
  • Ability to work in office, when necessary/required
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

POSITION DETAILS

  • Hours per month = 12 to 15
  • Rate of pay = $25.00 – $30.00/hour, depending on experience
  • Position duration = Permanent Part-Time, will be reviewed after 4 years with no guarantee of renewal
